Why China

Why consider a health checkup in China?

Large hospitals in China run dedicated health-management centres built for preventive checkups. For some visitors that means a thorough assessment in a single visit, at a lower price for the checkup itself.

A thorough checkup in one visit

Health-management centres bring labs, imaging and specialist consultations under one roof, so a comprehensive checkup usually takes a single day instead of weeks of separate appointments.

Lower prices for the checkup itself

Published checkup packages in China range from about US$140 for a basic panel to around US$5,500 for premium imaging packages. Travel adds cost, and our explorer includes it.

Hainan, an island set up for medical travel

Hainan hosts the Boao Lecheng international medical tourism zone, has a warm climate all year, and offers 30-day visa-free entry for eligible US and Canadian travellers. We confirm current entry rules before you book.

Is it always cheaper? No. If your provincial plan or insurance already covers the tests you need, the trip rarely pays for itself. The savings explorer shows the full trip cost, including when it doesn’t add up.

Partner facilities

We work only with licensed facilities. Before you pay anything, your quote names the facility, its licence and accreditation, and the credentials of the clinicians involved, so you can check them yourself.

If more tests are recommended

Nothing is added without your written approval. If the clinic recommends further tests or treatment, you get a separate quote and decide, in Hainan or back home.

Your records and follow-up

You leave with your reports and imaging files. We help you share them with your family doctor so care continues at home.

Pricing, cancellations and refunds

Your quote lists what is included and excluded. Cancellation and refund terms are in writing before you book. Read our terms.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Still unsure? Ask our AI concierge, or request a call with a coordinator.

Is a checkup in China cheaper than at home?

The checkup itself usually costs less. Once flights, hotel and time away are added, the total can be similar or higher, especially from Canada, where many basic tests are publicly covered. The savings explorer shows both sides.

Do I need a visa?

As of October 2026, US and Canadian citizens are among the nationalities eligible for Hainan’s 30-day visa-free entry when flying into Hainan from outside mainland China (Hong Kong and Macao routes count) and staying within the province. Rules change, so we confirm the current requirements for your itinerary before you book.

How will I communicate with doctors and staff?

Your bilingual coordinator stays with you throughout the checkup and interprets where needed, from registration to your consultation with the physician.

What do I receive afterwards?

You receive your reports and imaging files. Reports are often issued in Chinese, so we arrange translation support for you and your doctor.

What if the checkup finds something?

The clinic’s physicians review your results with you. Any next step is your decision: we can arrange further consultations in Hainan with a separate quote, or help you take the results to your doctor at home. In an emergency, local emergency services come first.

Do you need my medical history?

No. We ask only for what we need to plan your trip, and we don’t need medical details to give you a quote. Anything you share with a facility is shared only with your consent. See our Privacy Policy.

How long should I stay?

Most visitors stay 3 to 5 nights: one to two days at the clinic plus time to recover from the flight. Your plan sets the exact dates.

Can I travel with a partner?

Yes. Couples can book checkups together and share a hotel room. The explorer shows the cost for two.

Is MediHealGo a medical provider?

No. We coordinate your care and travel. Medical services are provided by independent licensed facilities in China.
